Did PURPLE shampoo turn my hair BLUE? Pura d'or Color Harmony
Hello Foxies! Welcome back to my blog.
I have another review in our PURPLE shampoo & conditioner series — where I shampoo and condition my hair to test out a purple product and give you my honest opinion on how well it worked and if I liked the product.
This is not sponsored and I am not affiliated with this company, however I did ask Pura d’or to send me these products so that I can review them for you. I want to be able to do as many purple shampoo and conditioner reviews as possible — to get down to the heart and the nitty gritty of: what works, what doesn’t, what’s awesome, what’s awful. We’re going to find that out in this series.

So, let’s take a good look at what my hair looks like before washing with the purple shampoo
Now, in between each of these purple products reviews, I do shampoo and condition my hair with regular shampoo and conditioner. I know it doesn’t really wash out what the previous purple shampoo did, but I want to give the best possible review for the shampoo that I am using.
So, let me show you the box that it came in. We’re going to unwrap it together, and then I’m going to bring you over to my shower - and we’re going to wash our hair! So, this is the box that it came in— nothing fancy, but it gets the job done. We have the two products inside.
This is what they sent to me. Let’s open these up. Up first we have the Pura d’or purple shampoo. This is with argan oil, biotin, keratin, bamboo fiber, and taro extract. It is cruelty-free, hypoallergenic, color-safe, and complete satisfaction guaranteed. It is also made with renewable energy. Ooh, there’s a whole list of things it doesn’t have like: SLS, parabens, phthalates, blah blah blah blah blah, lots of stuff . . . and gluten, if you’re allergic to gluten. And it is cruelty-free and vegan if I didn’t mention that already.

Why don’t I take you over to my bathroom where I’m going to shampoo my hair. And then we’re going to blow-dry it, style it, and come back to talk about our real and true thoughts about the Pura d’or purple shampoo.
I’m back from drying and styling my hair. Let’s talk about what I noticed while using this shampoo and conditioner by Pura d’or. As far as its ability to cancel out yellow and orange tones, I feel like this particular one might do a really good job. I can tell that because it has left a little bit of a blue cast to my hair. I don’t know if you notice it, but I kind of notice it in the bathroom. It’s very subtle. There’s a little bit of a bluishness to my hair hairs in particular. This tells me that if you have ends that you are growing out, and they’re looking a little bit orange or brassy, this might be able to help. Now as far as the smell of the shampoo . . . I don’t really enjoy it that much. It smells a little bit like medicine, but after my hair has dried, it smells a lot better. It doesn’t have a chemical smell after styling my hair, but it definitely smelled a little bit like a medicinal kind of smell when I was in the shower.
As far as the condition of my hair, it doesn’t feel drier, although it also doesn’t feel more moisturized either. It just feels kind of the same as it felt before.
I would say the great thing about Pura d’or is that if you need some heavy toning on your blonde or brassy/orange-y hair, that this would do a good job with that. It did leave my hair a tiny bit darker, and that’s because it colored in my white hairs bluish. I rather like it. I know that it will fade over time and it will just go back to its normal color.
The downsides were: my hair doesn’t feel softer afterward. It’s a neutral comment; my hair doesn’t feel drier and it also doesn’t feel softer. It’s a slightly darker color than before. That could be my imagination.
I should start mentioning the price points of these purple shampoos, because I didn’t mentioned it in the first two reviews. I apologize for that. What I found online is that the shampoo for Pura d’or is about $20 although I’ve seen the box set with conditioner for about $26. That’s a little bit pricier than a drugstore price, however for higher end products, that is on a lower price point.
So, if you’re looking to make a difference and tone your hair so it looks like a cooler color rather than a warmer color, this could be the shampoo and conditioner for you.
I really hope that you enjoyed this review. I had a blast creating this review.
I get asked this question all the time! What do I think about this shampoo or that shampoo, and I don’t know until I try them! I’m going to be trying a lot of them, and I hope to be able to share it all with you!
