In 2020, natural grey hair is going to continue its popularity. Recently, in an article in the Sydney Morning Herald, Tara Moss wrote about her own recent journey with grey hair. Her article is personal, informative, and inspiring. She speaks about ageism and the bold women that break the stereotypes.
She even mentions the Silver Foxy support group on Facebook. She says, “Stats suggest I’m not the only one deciding to skip the colour, with store bought dyes purportedly on a recent decline, and groups like Silver Foxy Facebook showing hundreds of posts from ordinary women, encouraging each other through the process.”
It’s extremely well-written and I think that you will really enjoy the read, so I’ll link that article here: Tara Moss’ article
Even though there are plenty of naysayers and negativity surrounding natural silver hair, that ageist attitude is quickly be thrown to the wayside as thousands of women claim that it is the best thing they have ever done for their hair. They say that allowing themselves to be free of dye has boosted their confidence. It has been the most empowering hair trend ever!
“Letting my hair go grey has been the best think I’ve ever done for my hair.”
IN the new pixie
In 2020, there are two versions of the pixie that will be popular; the most popular new cuts will either be very short, sculptured and sleek -or- they will be quite long bordering on the length of a short shaggy bob.
OUT fade cuts and undercuts with designs
IN the blunt bob
This hairstyle will never go out of style. It looks fresh, neat, and professional as well as cute. What’s rising in popularity is the straight or blunt bob. Different variations of a mid-length bob keep the haircut interesting with some variety such as soft layers or an all one length cut.
OUT a-line bob
The A-line bob has made a big impact in 2018, and in 2019 it started to fade. I expect not to see it much in 2020.
IN rounded curly
Rounded curly large hair: this style encompasses hair of all textures from thinner hair with loose curl to thicker hair and tight curl. This cut enhances the face by adding volume around the head. It is very flattering on all faces, and it’s “bounce-factor” looks healthy and playful.
IN slicked back hair
Slicked back hair, sometimes known as the “wet look” from long hair to pixies. Making a strong entrance, slicked back hair has become a trend in the fashion world as well as by celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Kate Hudson, Gigi Hadid, Gwen Stefani, and Jennifer Lopez. This look is a powerhouse look. It smoothes the hair away from the face creating a bold look that commands respect.
IN fashion wigs
Wigs have become more popular in recent years along with processing and dyeing hair. This is because the bleaching and dyeing of hair often makes hair thinner, weaker, and dry like straw. This has prompted many to either cut off their hair or hide it under a glamorous wig. It is a quick solution to having long hair and never having a bad hair day.
IN long extensions
Even more than wigs, extensions have been the most popular way of achieving long hair without waiting years for your hair to grow. There are different types of extensions and ways to put extensions in. In past years, sewn-in extensions have been wildly popular and easy clip-in extensions are easily accessible to everyone.
IN longer bangs
shag bangs, curtain bangs, brigitte bardot bangs
For the last few years, heavy blunt bangs or shorter bangs have been quite popular. This trend is dying out, however. This year, longer bangs will be in. This is likely due to all those who cut their bangs in the past two years and now growing them out. As all those “Bang-Goers” are growing out their blunt cuts, their longer bangs have given rise to new trends in bags. These include shaggy bangs and longer curtain bangs. Expect to see more face-framing layers this year.
OUT blunt bangs
IN modern shag
Longer bangs go great with a modern shag. This haircut has only gained momentum since its reemerging in 2019. - the classic “Debbie Harry” and “Farrah Fawcett”
OUT rainbow hair
Heavily bleached and brightly colored hair is losing momentum as extreme upkeep is necessary to keep dyed grey hair or rainbow hair looking fresh and healthy.
IN natural look
A more natural look is now in. Rather than perfect curls or perfect straightness, a cool relaxed texture is preferred. This means less stress on your hair and more time for it to repair!
