Now, I know a lot of us start out using our fingers for everything from foundation to eyeshadow, but there are some amazing benefits to switching to brushes. Whether you're a makeup newbie or a seasoned pro, understanding how and why to use these tools can make all the difference in achieving that flawless, airbrushed look.
So, grab your favorite brushes and let's get started!" I will be using BS-MALL Travel Makeup Brush Set
I’m going to start with foundation. I’m looking for a moisturizing light foundation, so I’m going to use a combination of my favorite Pond’s moisturizer along with Hey Honey which is a little too dark and Laura Mercier which is a little too light. I recently came across these disposable makeup palettes which I like to stick to my hand for easy mixing. Using a densely packed round flat brush, I’ll stipple on my foundations.
Next, I’m using my Aesthetica contour/concealer palette to conceal under the eyes and around the mouth. For this, I choose a small rounded flat brush. As an eye primer for my oily lids, I like to use Covergirl pressed powder. Cream blush Wet n Wild megaglo, Selestia Beauty GODDESS powder for contour. Seal it all with Aesthetica banana powder using the largest fluffy brush.
Moving on to the eyes, I’m using a small angled flat brush to sketch the shape of my eyeliner. My favorite black eyeshadow that is very dark and pigmented is the Blowin’ Smoke palette by Colourpop. for shadow, I’m using a liquid shadow in “copper pop” by e.l.f and a blending brush. For my second layer of eyeliner, I’m using a black pencil by WONDERSKIN - this one is creamy and blends nicely. Using a pencil brush, I soften the edges and define the shape. To darken and define my wing, I use a liquid liner by Physicians Formula. For a decadent mascara, try the Queen Cobra mascara by Selestia Beauty.
Don’t forget to comb those brows! I’m not using any other products on my brows since they are pretty dark already.
And the final step is the lips. I’m going to first straighten my outline (my dog scar makes my lips look uneven) with WONDERSKIN lip liner in “saddle.” I recently purchased the most gorgeous lipstick. It’s by Loréal in the color “185 Miss Magenta.” I lightly tap the lipstick to the center of the top and bottom, and I use a small short dense brush to soften the edges and blend into my natural lip color.
With the same brush, I am sealing in the color with a similar shade of eyeshadow, Colourpop super shock shadow in “don’t leave.”
And look, I used all of the brushes except for 3. I think I did a pretty good job using brushes instead of fingers today.
